It's been the 8th week working as a school teacher in a government chinese school. Hmm I'm feeling good, at first I was assigned to teach in the evening section, now I've been shifted to morning. Morning's air is always... THE BEST. I'm so used to school life and here I go again, to wake up early in the morning and have a proper job.
I'm getting to... lose myself, sometime, ahem... I mean, I'm getting fearless when whipping the students' bare hands. Because I always have proper reasons to back me up, and I won't simply whip anyway. I warned them for times, when it's my 2nd/ 3rd time to caution them - like remind them to bring specific books, finish homeworks and submit it tomorrow, hand in homeworks on time, etc - yet when they disobey, I cannot tahan. I told them, it's about DISCIPLINE. When you go to a ball, and you're invited to arrive at 8pm, you can't possibly arrive at 9pm, can you?? (and I point my rattan to a student and he nodded) Same thing, I said you must submit the homework this morning and put it on my table, yet you're late to hand in... can you??
NO
As a teacher, when students can't read your expression and they can't tell how you feel now (especially the Standard twos), you have to tell them HOW you exactly feel right now. May be I rarely get angry, and I want the students to know that I'm mad, so I will tell them “我告诉你们,老师现在很生气!” and my tone gets even louder when I reached the words "现在" and for a moment, my class fell into a silent mode. All listen very intently to me and have their eyes glued on me.
May be my colleague is fierce when teaching her BM in my class, but, honestly, the students are not really fear of the teacher. It's based on the subject taught and most importantly... the tittle. I've got a tittle.
[I'm the class teacher.]
The students, in every class, are mostly SCARED of the class teacher. Probably class teacher is the one who is more prompted to contact their parents. And in a chinese school like this, teacher who teaches Chinese is always well-noted. Every day, they's always a double periods of Chinese lessons. And every complain the class teacher received from other subject teachers or teachers, it's always the class teacher to punish the student(s) involved. So, undeniably, class teacher is always the first person the students have to overcome LOL!!
In my class, the students are not ALLOWED to say any bad words -0- probably in every class too. As I said, I put DISCIPLINE on the first place. My students must first have the discipline and good attitude in the class. When they point at someone, I taught them they MUST point with the thumb but not with the other parts of their fingers. When they line up, the shorts must stand in front and the talls must be behind. Today, my class monitor's assistant informed me a boy ordered his friend to punch her. When I knew about this, I GOT REALLY FURIOUS, like very INSTANTLY. Actually, I was quite numb to it. I SCOLD SCOLD SCOLD. Really angry. I STARED furiously at him and whipped him twice. I can see the tears in his eyes. At the same time, I warned them, whoever gets caught for saying bad words or having a BAD attitude, the consequence is
to get whipped by me.
=__=
Last time, a good boy in my class forgot to bring a book during my lesson. He quickly surrendered and guess what... I saw sparkling tears in his eye sockets. Awwww.... I can't whip him. From time to time, he's very obedient to me and behaved very well in my class. So I excused him. Actually, I'm scared when the students cry whereas I haven't even whipped them @@ Always, a case like this, I will just
遮一只眼,闭一只眼
I tell myself. "OK OK 算 liao. 我看不见"
*relax relax*
Guess what! Yesterday, after school, a standard 5 student approached me and said “老师,我本来觉得数学很难的,可是给你教了后,我觉得数学很简单了。”
钟老师,赞!!
